School is the environment there a student comes to study. Therefore, it is important at the student feels secure and safe in the school campus. Safety in the school is not only beneficial for the students but also for the Teachers and for all the staff members of the school. Since a school houses hundreds of students and the same time, therefore such a huge gathering of children can be exploited by people such as terrorists.

Not only terrorism but some basic threats of violence which can be seen in schools are bulling, thefts, fights, robberies, sexual attack etc.

Most well equipped Schools like the G D Goenka Rohtak also have a good prevention strategy of anything violent in nature and provide safe and secure environment for the students.

So now we will discuss about some student safety tips which should be implemented by the schools: –

1) Bully free school

Buzzing is one of the major crimes (please focus on the fact that I am calling bullying as a crime) which takes place in schools. Bullying is not at all acceptable, even if building is being carried out in a verbal way it is still harmful for mental peace of a student. It is important that the school makes it clear right from day one that bullying is not at all accepted in any for form. There should be strict anti-bullying laws in the code of conduct of the school. School should have anti bullying committee to deal with this problem.

2) Provide help to stressed or depressed students

Stressed or depressed student and not only a concern of the school but they can also turn out to be a major security reason, to behave in many instances where depressed students vented their irritation using violent ways in the school. The best prevention is to take care of depressed students in the right way and help them out of the situation.

3) Lay down the rules, regulations of the school and make it known to every student.

Every school should have an internal constitution which may not down the rules regulations and behavior which need to be followed in the school, this will help in in controlling and ensuring a proper behavior of the students.

4) System of ID verification

Every school should have a system of ID card which helps in identification of the students, teachers, staff and other members of the school. This prevents the possibility of stranger entering the school premises and causing any harm. School should also have strict ways of dealing with outsiders.

5) Fire safety awareness

Most schools are large scale buildings which have a  good possibility of catching fire. All schools for should have required fire fighting apparatus and it should organise events to raise awareness about firefighting equipment’s and techniques.

6) Weather proofing of building

Most school building are huge and accommodate hundreds of children at the same time, therefore the school building must have all weather protection. School should also be prepared for diverse weather conditions such as floods and earthquake.

7)Ensure proper safety locks on the doors of the school

Schools not only house expensive educational equipment’s but it is also needed to be in perfect shape every day. Proper locks ensure there are no thieves or vandals messing with the school property. Also, the proper placements of locks can ensure that the school can go into a lockdown in dire circumstances (if required).

8)Prepare a complete emergency response plan

Emergency situations like floods or earthquakes can occur anytime (although the possibility of it occurring differs) and since school buildings house so many students therefore schools should ensure that they have a proper emergency response plan which can be executed in case of such emergencies and thus so many lives can be saved.

Schools are built for the benefits of students therefore it is necessary that the schools should be concerned about the safety of the children. Each and every school should make the students safety as its primary concern. Each school should have a committee taking care of the management of these safety systems.
