Several studies conducted by professionals all around the world have shown that a large number of young teens or school students suffer from major personality disorders like Bipolar, depression, borderline, ADHD and majorly, anxiety. This has raised questions in the minds of their parents and it means that school authorities are not raising or properly nurturing the kids. Well, the answer somewhere lies between the stigma and disparities in the social norms and principles of the world.

Since a younger school-going kid gets introduced to a lot of new things about life in those major 10 years of their entire life span, thus it becomes a pretty much messed up situation for them to handle it by themselves especially those who are living in a bad mental or physical health situation. To be more precise, the brain of a school kid is more vulnerable to anxiety when they are dealing with a lot of things at the same time.

Major reasons that give a base to the fact that school students are more vulnerable to anxiety:

Oppressions by the norms of society – This is one of the major reasons why kids are more prone to mental illnesses like anxiety. A young teen who loves to draw but shamed of getting failed at mathematics, a boy who loves to dress like a girl is being bullied for being gay, a poor boy who can’t afford luxuries is being teased by rich kids, an overweight girl who skips her meals to lose weight but still bullied by people, a kid who has ADHD and looks completely healthy is being scolded by teacher for not paying attention and bullied by other kids too, etc. and the list of such examples can fill like hundreds of such pages. But, all of them still revolve around one reason that how kids at such a young age face tragic conditions just because they don’t fit in the norms of the society.

These things don’t only make them prone to anxiety but other ugly mental and health situation, suicidal thoughts too. It is like an epidemic which keeps passing through the generation. It could only be cured with teaching yourself as well as your kids the concept of acceptance.

Adults, as well as kids, are unaware – Unless someone is aware of those particular symptoms that indicate its respective health condition, no one would be able to act upon it. Just like sex education, mental issues too are important to be discussed with your kids, so that they should know about it and help themselves or other people when needed. However, reputed schools like GD Goenka Rohtak have been giving their best in educating students about mental health and also teaching them how important it is to be taken care of. If you want your kid’s bright future without any issues of anxiety then you can enroll them in any such school.

Leaving them in a rat race – A lot of parents, intentionally or unintentionally, put their kids in the rat race. This creates a huge pressure on the kid even if they are good at that particular thing. To get higher grades in academics and top positions in sports and activities, they hire coaches and tutors which engages the kid for like an entire day. Well, scientifically, none of this works, instead, the kid gets dumped into the marsh of anxiety.

Negligence regarding the issue – Think about it when the last time when you talked to your kid was or how well you know about their mental status, regardless of what their age was? Some of you do but the majority of the people don’t because a lot of people neglect this issue. This happens because of an old belief that kids would never have any sort of mental issue like anxiety. This is completely a myth which has been busted by many researchers. There is equal responsibility of school authorities and guardians to keep a track of kid’s mental health and hear them out.
