The school will seek not merely to turn out men as engineers, scientists, doctors but also men of high character, probity and honor whose conduct through life will show that they bear a hallmark of a great institute, G.D. Goenka. Scholarship is an incentive as well as an encouragement for students who are talented but do not have the means to study further. G.D. Goenka is offering a school specific national scholarship.
The objective of the scholarship scheme is to provide with financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to minority to enable them to pursue their studies from the school. These scholarships are available for only Indian students and will be awarded through school directors. In the year 2015-16 scholarships will be distributed among the students of all the communities throughout the country. Based on the state-wise admissions the distribution of scholarships will be done. 30% scholarships will be reserved for girls from the total admissions coming from each state which is transferable to the male students of that state in case of non-availability of a female candidate in the concerned state. If the target of distribution of scholarships in a state is not fulfilled, it will be distributed among the students of other states in accordance with the merit.
The scholarships will be offered to the students who will secure merit in a class wise subject based aptitude test made up of 30 questions each from English, mathematics and science. Under this scholarship a concession in the school fees will be made for students of class 6th to 10th. The continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on the successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
The procedure for applying will be an application form which can be received from the school counter with a payment of rupees 200 which should be submitted to the desk after entering the details. We are expecting students of Haryana UP and MP, for them there will be special conduct. The scholarship is based on the satisfactory progress and the conduct of the scholar. If it is reported by the Head of the institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of his/her own act of default failed to make a satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such as resorting to or participating in strikes, irregularity in attendance without the permission of the concerned authorities etc., the authority sanctioning the scholarship may cancel or stop or withhold further conduct for such period as it may think fit.
The scholarships are worth rupees 15 crore and aim to give bright and motivated but financially constrained students in our country access to education. Young students who need our support to stay in the education system and get full access to their potential will be benefitted. Potential desperately needed to build their family, their community and their country. We support them through these merit based scholarships and a unique and tailor made mentoring program furthering their personal and professional development.
We will foster this new generation of leaders that will move their countries forward economically, socially and politically. By this scholarship the chairman wants to staunchly support the issue of girl child education as he believes that educated women are an integral part of any society and ensure a gender balanced society.
He reinforces how empowering the woman at a young age tremendously benefits the nation in the long run. Still our focus is to ensure that not only do girl children access quality education but also complete it by reducing the high rates of dropouts.
Today even the World Bank has acknowledged that there is no investment more effective for achieving the millennium development goals than educating girls.
