These activities are done in a consistent sequence throughout the day. This article talks the ideal daily routine of students of GD Goenka Boarding School, Rohtak including important activities in boarding schools.

1) A set of morning activities

The day of a boarder starts with rising early in the morning, getting ready for the classes, and having a morning inspection. They get time for personal care activities before attending classes. After getting ready for the school, the students are taken for the first meal of the day i.e. Breakfast. After reaching school, a morning assembly is held where students participate in prayers and exercise.

2) School time

The school starts with attendance of students and then the fixed time table is followed which is prepared by the coordinators for the whole week. In between, a lunch break is provided to the students where all the students move to the mess. During school time extra attention and additional classes are also scheduled for the weaker students. The school recognizes that each student has unique needs and adjusts teaching methods accordingly.

3) Homework Time (Prep)

After the school is over, the students are sent to hostel and some rest time is given to them. The extra time or prep time is given to students after rest in their respective classes only. Prep is a quiet study time for students in the boarding house to prepare for schoolwork and homework. It occurs every day and students are monitored by their subject teachers. Immediately after the prep time is over, the students move towards their favourite time of the day i.e. snacks

4) Activity Time/ Play Time

Students are encouraged to participate in recreational activities such as dancing, singing, different kind of sports like skating, cricket, volley ball, basketball, football, horse riding, lawn tennis, swimming, badminton, table tennis, billiards, gym or any other extracurricular activities. Students receive instruction from an instructor for the all the above activities to ensure they learn effectively and avoid any harm while learning. These activities are aimed to encourage active student participation in these activities.

5) Self-Adjustment Time

In a boarding school, all activities are given importance. Teachers understand that students need time for personal chores and relaxation. Students can also use this time to study or socialize in the library.

6) Dinner Time

The mess is crucial in boarding schools because what you eat directly impacts your body and mind. It’s important to have a well-balanced diet and not ignore this fact. All the Best Boarding schools in Haryana have a specific eating schedule that all students must follow. They eat their meals in a designated area called the mess or dining area in the hostel.

7) Self Study Time

A specific study time is scheduled for students to prevent distractions from their personal lives. The warden monitors the students to ensure they are studying. Students are given a specific time to complete homework and study independently in addition to their regular classes.

8) Lastly, the Bed Time

The students start getting ready for bed at 10 pm and go to sleep around 10.15pm. This explains that school students should have a regular bedtime routine to wake up early. It advises against studying overnight and suggests allowing children to study in the mornings instead. Calming them down before exams can help them sleep better. Early bedtime benefits children’s cognitive ability and reduces anxiety and stress.
